Raleigh is the opposite problem to the rest of our service area. Down in Cumberland County we are usually correcting something. Here we are usually adding something.
The area has seen decades of sustained building, and the newer housing that dominates much of it comes with modern 200-amp services, grounded circuits, GFCI and AFCI protection already in place, and panels with slots left in them. The wiring is not the problem — what people want is more of it.
So the work here skews toward capacity and additions rather than repair. A charger in the garage. A generator because an outage cost somebody a freezer and two days of working from home. A bonus room over the garage that needs its own circuits. A kitchen being reworked to a standard the original builder never specified.
The older parts of the city are a different story again, with genuine mid-century and pre-war stock that has the same aluminum, cloth and ungrounded issues we see further south. We survey before quoting either way, because here you cannot assume from the street which of the two houses you are standing in.

The most requested job in this market by some distance. Most homes here have the 200-amp service and the free breaker space to take a Level 2 charger without any service work — we run the load calculation first so you know that before you buy the unit.
Home offices, medical equipment and full freezers make an outage expensive here in a way it was not ten years ago. We handle the generator, pad, transfer switch and electrical; the fuel connection is done by your gas utility or propane contractor and we coordinate the dates.
Kitchens, bathrooms, bonus rooms and garage conversions. Even in a modern house a kitchen remodel usually means added circuits, and current GFCI requirements catch out plenty of builders’ original layouts.

One dead outlet in Raleigh is a long way for us to come, and a local firm will get to you sooner and cheaper. We would rather say that than take the booking. If you have a list, though, that changes the arithmetic entirely.
We answer emergency calls any hour and will tell you what to switch off. But if something is actively dangerous, a Raleigh-based electrician will reach you faster than we can, and we will tell you that rather than let you wait on us.

In most newer homes here, yes. A 200-amp service with free breaker slots usually takes a Level 2 charger with no upgrade at all. We run the load calculation before quoting so you know before you buy the unit.
For an EV charger circuit, a generator, panel or service work, remodel circuits and new construction, yes. A like-for-like fixture or device swap on sound wiring usually does not. We pull the permit and meet the inspector.
